Lisa Edelstein (born Lisa Edelstein) is an American actress best known for playing House in Fox's the medical thriller House. Her family was from Wayne, in a conservative Jewish tradition. At the age of 18 she moved to New York City to study at Tisch School of the Arts. She soon became part of the New York club scene and started getting headlines. Press also was impressed by her. She then used her background and fame, and her own training to both write and perform a show called Positive Me. Shortly thereafter she landed a job at MTV and was the host of Awake to the Wild Side. After the show was finished, she went on to do film and TV productions. Her first job was in tiny roles and then established herself gradually as an actor.
